About the Sierra Leone Civil War Series
During my college years, I participated in the founding of Operation Help Now, an organization that strives to provide a second chance for the disadvantaged youths of Sierra Leone, whose lives have been severely impacted by decades of civil unrest. This series tells the story of a young boy dealing with traumatic memories of the war. These illustrations show the affects of war on the lives of children. These paintings are on display in the Kruizenga Art Museum at Hope College in Holland, Michigan. They are being used as part of a course on trauma and healing.
